FAIL: This website is full of nothing but strawmen and factual errors

Well then, by all means, correct the facts and flesh out the arguments. I'm all ears.

I noticed that you didn't port over the tax one... is that because for you obama is promising more of a tax cuts then mccain?

I ported all of them over.

    http://makemevoteobama.org/2008/08/28/fail-obama-will-alleviate-tax-burden-on-the-middle-class-by-taxing-the-rich.aspx

So let me get this straight. Obama is going to pay for everybody's house, car, gas, food, school, medical bills, AND sponsor an overhaul of the energy grid... AND he's going to do it all while collecting LESS taxes from me? Wow! While he's at it, can he put a chicken in every pot, cure cancer, and make time go backwards by flying in a circle around the earth really fast?

I'm sorry, but there's simply no credibility to the argument that Obama won't tax the bejeezus out of me. His promises are too excessive to believe, and his short history runs counter to his claims.

But to grant you the premise, I played around with that website. I punched in the number closest to, but not exceeding, my income. Sure enough, it told me I'd get an "Obama tax cut"... except, the site's tax reference point appears to be pre-Bush tax levels. So it doesn't tell me I'd be paying less in taxes - it says I'd be paying less than I hypothetically would have to pay if it wasn't for the Bush tax cuts.

Then I noticed that if I put in lower income values, I get a little red message saying, "John McCain would tax you $XYZ.00 MORE than Barack Obama." I didn't get any such message for the value I originally input, the one closest to my actual income.

You know what that means? It means that, no, in fact, Obama is NOT promising me a bigger tax cut than McCain.

Sorry... Missed the entry somehow. The problem is that McCain's promises are currently worse. We are looking at a $5 trillion increase of debt under his proposals vrs a $3.5 trillon from Obama. (Page 2 of http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/UploadedPDF/411750_updated_candidates_summary.pdf). So your extra share of debt should be counted in to whatever difference there is. Also, you are still ignoring extra money you are going to need to pay (directly or indirectly) if McCain gets his health care policy through (assuming you have decent coverage through work).

Btw, the hyperboley of what you claim obama is going to pay for will continue continue to blind you to whichever candidate will be in your best intrest. If you are even vaguely serious about your choice, you should dig past the rheotorical and spin level of the debate.

I see the article's prediction of increased total national debt under McCain. The article doesn't discuss the debt relative to total GDP size, which is the more interesting figure. Moreover, it doesn't bring spending into the picture - it assumes a continuation of current spending levels.

I recognize that McCain's health policy will cost me. I recognize that Obama's health policy will cost me even more.

But really all of this is sort of silly given that we only have the candidates' promises to go on right now. My list of Obama's promises is not hyperbole - it's consistent with the declarations in his acceptance speech last night.

The bottom line is: Are you really trying to tell me, with a straight face, that I will pay less taxes under Obama than I would under McCain? Seriously?

But hey would it then (if this is true) help with memory like short term or long term, just curious. Any info can be good info.
